2019-2020 Peer Career Advisors (PCAs) for the Center for Career Development

The CCD is currently looking for committed students who have a genuine interest in learning about career development topics and assisting their peers!  If this sounds like you, apply to become a Peer Career Advisor! You will gain leadership, teamwork, presentation and communication skills as you advocate for student & career success.

About the Program:
Peer Career Advisors (PCAs) are a group of student volunteers who serve as ambassadors to undergraduate and graduate students, and play a valuable role in supporting the Center for Career Development. PCAs reinforce the knowledge, skills, and resources offered through the CCD. PCAs are specially trained to assist fellow Rice students with:
  • Resume and cover letter reviews
  • Job and internship search basics
  • Using CCD online resources (Handshake, Vault, etc.)
  • Understanding CCD services
PCAs are selected through an application and interview process.

2019-2020 PCA Requirements


Individually, you will:

  • Participate in PCA training at the end of the Spring 2019 semester
  • Participate in PCA retreat during the 1st/2nd week of school
  • Attend bi-weekly meetings
  • Provide one-on-one resume reviews and other basic career development assistance to the members of your college/other graduate students
  • Volunteer for at least two major CCD events per semester for a minimum of two hours (Fall/Spring Expo, Open House)





In collaboration with your PCA college/graduate student team and CCD staff liaison, to raise awareness of the CCD, its services, and its upcoming programming, you will:

  • Create and execute a college-based/graduate student-specific marketing strategy (per semester)
  • Regularly distribute printed and digital/social media marketing materials in your college
  • Provide at least three college (or graduate student-specific) programs per semester
  • Assist with ad hoc programs across campus
